Pablo Neruda is by far my favorite poet. He masters the art of finding words for the emotions of love and of the heart. Special thanks to Richard Rositas for introducing me to my favorite book of all time and Jason Lazo for this little find below.

Mario Torero, Artivist and San Diego ICON stopped by the studio to say hello and have a Tecate with me. Check out the interview below. Never a dull moment with Mario! Phoenix band, September 21, 2010 at the SDSU Open Air Theater

Excited? That was an understatement! Going to see Phoenix live in concert at the San Diego State Open Air Theater!!! Yay!!

Phoenix started as a little obsession about 2 years ago. Definitely before 1901 came out. I was trying to find a house song that was often played at Baby Rock in Tijuana like 8 years ago, back in the day when you could still go down there. "I can try, I can try, I can try, I can try, I can try...." and it just repeated over and over in my head. So I finally found the song that haunted my mind for so long... If I Ever Feel Better, only it was a remix so it sounded nothing like the original. After I was introduced to the original I found myself hooked on the infectious happy melody of Thomas Mars' vocals. On top of that, I have always been drawn to French culture. And that is how my obsession with Phoenix became. I also found out during my research that Thomas Mars has a child with Sofia Copola and Laurent Brancowitz, the guitarist of the band, played briefly with the members of Daft Punk!! I say it's good to know people eh!

Phoenix climbed their way to the top of the charts in my heart until I said...I MUST SEE THEM LIVE!!! I looked for concert dates to find they were all sold out all over the country and in Europe with no plans of coming to San Diego. So you can imagine when I opened up the SD Reader and saw they were coming, I clipped out the little squared ad that read Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix and put it on my fridge!!

So...yes, yes, yes, I was excited yesterday all day!! Their sound was amazing!! Very crisp and clear like you hear it on their CD only it had the little bit of the echo you get when playing in an arena but of course that's the beauty of it right!! It was nice. I was up far on top so couldn't see too well unfortunately but they played all the songs I wanted to hear and more. If I Ever Feel Better, Love For Granted, Lisztomania, Fences, Armstice, Girlfriend..

Last night was great company, great music, great night.

One of my favorite bands is coming to San Diego!!! Phoenix will be playing along with Neon Indian at the San Diego State Open Air Theater. Yes!! I will post about the concert this week!! Here is a video for you!

Networking in San Diego - Mixers for business professionals

Last night, the HD Video crew and I covered a pretty cool event called Networking In San Diego. www.networkinginsandiego.com They put on a monthly mixer for local business professionals. They also have an on line community you can use for networking purposes.

There were some interesting people I met. First and foremost, the bartender! MMMMM thanks for the drinks Smith! Then there was Alex Fioroni (rhymes with macaroni) from Bod Health Nutrition (no it wasn't the suit and stunna shades he rocked... thought he would be in the movie business hehehehhe). Mr. Fioroni is a Chef. He makes diet food. Ok maybe we shouldn't call it "diet" food. Lets call it "healthy" food. 100% organic (me mum would be proud) and it has no pesticides. The deal breaker? Other interesting people I ran into Dan Weik and Gabe Gunlock (yes that's his real name). These two gentlemen are the partners that put this whole Networking In San Diego thing together. http://www.networkinginsandiego.com/

I love 80's!!

This video is soooo fucking cool!! It brings back memories of me at 11 years old watching MTV (back when it was awesome and all they played was music) with my older brother. No YouTube then so we had to wait for hours for our favorite video. One of us would go play while the other would watch out for the it and then....Oh the moment we were both waiting for!!! "It's on!!! Hurry up!!!".

We've got some surprise talent lined up as well!

HD VIDEO SD and The 17th anual San Diego Latino Film Festival!

March 2010 already!! Wow.. I know I haven't posted for a bit. I've been really busy with my new Canon and also with other photo shoots for my photography and makeup portfolio (view at www.lilligarcia.com) among them a photo shoot with Mark Vargas and Haute Magazine. So much fun! Can't wait to get the photos back. Anyway, it is March which means it's that time of the year once again. The 17th Annual SD Latino Film Festival. Along with the whole crew at HD Video San Diego (www.hdvideosd.com) I got a chance to host and attend the Media Kick Off Party. This year it was at the Se Hotel in the Gaslamp. The festival is getting bigger and bigger each year! So much fun every time. Here's a short video clip of coverage from the party where we talk to many film makers, actors and directors! I'm really excited because this year I have 3 new partners to work with. Our new hosts are: Paulina Gallardo (from Univision), German Suarez (previously with Nostika TV) and Erika Raudales. 500 Days of Summer

My sweetie and I do a thing called "Monday Movie Night" and we go rent movies, pick up some delicious naughty food and just melt into the mattress as we watch and eat. I just watched 500 Days of Summer. Although I had seen the previews, I was too busy to go to the theater to catch the flick. I absolutely LOVED it. It's such a good movie! I mean how can you not like the actors, Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. They're both sweethearts! The whole time I found myself really into the story, her hair, her makeup, her wardrobe and most importantly or equally at least, THE SOUNDTRACK!! So I thought I would look for some of the songs on the soundtrack and play them for you guys. I added some other songs I felt matched the mood as well. Enjoy!!
